CLASSIFICATION OF SPINAL CORD ARTERIOVENOUS MALFORMATIONS. A LITERATURE REVIEW

Abstract

The article presents an overview of classifications of arteriovenous malformations of the spinal cord, taking into account historical changes in the concepts of this vascular pathology of the spinal cord as clinical experience accumulates. Classifications of spinal arteriovenous malformations are very confusing and complex, and publications on this issue are quite few. We analyzed 33 scientific sources to describe the development of classifications of arteriovenous malformations of the spinal cord and selected the most important ones for practicing neurosurgeons and endovascular surgeons. We emphasize that a universal classification that could satisfy the entire scientific community has not yet been developed.
